One of the keys to healthy, beautiful skin is strong support within the dermis (deep portion of the skin). Collagen, a basic building block of the skin, is responsible for the skin's support and durability, plus it's smooth surface. When collagen is damaged by sun, environmental factors or depleted by age, the skin appears thinner, resulting in facial lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging. The CoolTouch laser is a perfect solution to stimulating and rebuilding your own collagen.
The laser's light energy targets the dermis where collagen is formed. The laser's heat gently stimulates the tissue, which triggers a repair mechanism, and your body begins to rebuild and replenish your own natural collagen without injury to the skin's surface. As new collagen is produced, your skin begins to look softer and younger. In addition, because the laser targets water in the skin and not melanin (pigment), CoolTouch laser treatments are safe for all skin types.
CoolTouch treatments are quick and easy, and typically take less than an hour. Patients feel a warm sensation and see a blush or redness in the treated area for an hour or so following the treatment. Best of all, with no downtime, you can apply make-up and resume your regular activities immediately.
Patients have a high degree of satisfaction with their results. Improvement is seen in both skin tone and texture, with fine and deeper lines becoming less visible. Improvement is seen with a series of treatments, resulting form collagen enhancement. Most patients receive 4 to 6 treatments over a period of 3-5 months. Occasional touch-up treatments may be suggested to maintain or continue your improvements. Use of Retin-A (tretinoin) is encouraged while undergoing CoolTouch treatments to enhance collagen building. Retin-A is available by prescription through the office.
CoolTouch laser safe for darker skin types.
Unlike some lasers whose wavelengths aren't appropriate for darker skin, the CoolTouch laser uses a 1320 nanometer wavelength which targets water in the skin, not melanin. This means the laser will safely treat any skin color without causing pigmentary or color changes to your natural skin tone.
